Ever find yourself longing for high mountain, amazing scenery, remote island, living your best life instagram-perfect adventures to fill your feed? Or tire of the same old road route or local mountain bike trail? Yeah, me either. There’s just too much fun and adventure to be had in this amazing little town and surrounding parks to be longing for much other than more time to play and more friends to experience those adventures.

The beauty of Cookeville is its proximity to adventure. Epic days on the bike can be had or, if one is short on time or recovering from injury, short bite-sized adventures can be had.

Kenny is recovering from a broken leg, myself a torn rotator cuff. Quite the pair of intrepid adventurers. Not one to let a little injury prevent me from getting out for some activity, Kenny and I decided a short ride and paddle to test out his new Kokopelli Rogue-Lite packraft from The Outdoor Experience was in order. He’d just been released to begin riding and my should was feeling game enough for a short excursion.

Packrafts are amazing tools to enhance the access to adventure. Capable of padding rivers and lakes, designed to carry loads such as bikes or even deer/hunting bounty, and pack down smaller than most sleeping bags. Paired with 4 piece paddles, they can open the door to new ways to shuttle river runs, access roads/trails separated by lakes or rivers, get into even more remote fishing holes, or just add a new dimension of fun to a local 3 mile ride to a city park lake.

The Cumberland Plateau is full of options for multi-day bikepacking. With the bevy of rivers it is easy to plot together days of paddling and riding to design the ultimate adventure right here at home. If you’re needing some creative ideas to expand your local fun, stop by and see us or our friends and family at The Outdoor Experience. We love sharing adventure. Life is too short to stay indoors.
